Easy to use November 30, 2005 31 out of 36 found this review helpful
This replaces an older Brother sheet roll fax, this is easy to set up right out of the box, you will be sending and receiving faxes in 5 minutes. The cartridgesare easy to replace as well. Brother makes some good products.

Works well with separate answering machine. Makes copies well. Did not come with four-color introductory stickers on the outside to help identify parts and features. Initial print cartridge lasting well. Pleased with purchase.
Great Budget Fax December 29, 2008 After going through numerous faxes that have had jamming, feeding, or double-feeding issues I came across this one on the recommendation of an attorney who has had one in service for years and sends/receives multiple faxes daily (no idea why he doesn't use a higher end model).
At the time I bought this I was faxing 10+ page documents several times per week and this chugged through like a machine. Since that point my needs are simplified, I fax or receive faxes at most once or twice a month and I'd rather have a machine on hand. It integrates perfectly with my separate phone system/answering machine (consumer multi wireless handsets with base). This is the first fax I have ever owned that I can absolutely depend on. If someone is going to fax me something, it is there on hand and I know it will go through perfectly. If I'm sending a 12 page document, I can walk away and I know it will feed and print me my confirm (still can't make myself walk away after going through many previous fax hells but it has never failed me in over 3 years of use). And I am writing this because I just faxed a 12 pager with 3 different paper types some of which were thicker/thinner and a subset had moderately different margins and it handled them without hesitation or error.
Bottom line, if you need or would like a fax for home or small office and don't want to spend much but expect the thing to work, after going through 3 different models this is the only one I can recommend.
Just the fax, man... August 28, 2006 19 out of 20 found this review helpful
If you're looking for a fax for your home office and don't want to spend a fortune, this is the fax for you. It is simple to set up, uses plain copy paper and takes up little space. The only down side is, it wasn't compatible with our voicemail system and we can't use the auto answer mode. Since we mostly use this for outgoing faxes, we're fine. We just have to manually switch it over to fax mode to receive. If you need the auto answer, check the specs carefully before you buy this one.
Decent Machine - Used in Restaurant... January 21, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I have used a 1270e in one of my restaurants for 2 1/2 years now, and it continues to chug through. We do not fax a lot, but we send copies of the menu to folks, and we receive faxed in orders, so they both need to be readable.
Yes, I dislike the old ribbon roll that it uses for ink, but they can be found cheaply enough, plus we usually flip the cardboard rolls around, cut the notches in the end so they will fit backwards (instead of trying to re-roll them), and reuse them, thus saving money.
This thing is in a greasy environment that puts it to a test (it sits by our chip fryer - we are a southwestern/mex grill) and gets totally covered in grease, but keeps right on printing. Phone on it works ok for those times when we have to talk to someone that is dialing the fax by mistake. Has a few memory dial numbers in it which is nice.
